EHS/SEHS Alumni Scholarship Fund
Background
A committee from the class of '54 started the EHS/SEHS Alumni scholarship Fund at the 50th reunion of their class, the first to graduate from the new Eugene High School building on 19th Avenue. (The school was renamed South Eugene in 1958 with the opening of North Eugene High.) Through generosity, persistence and persuasion Lew Blue ‘54, with the help of Nancy Lematta '56, Milt Quam '56, Larry Senn ‘58 and others, collected over $100,000 in donations to establish the fund in 2006. Now managed by the Oregon Community Foundation, scholarships go to graduating South Eugene students, following established criteria, identified by staff and administrators of the South counseling department.
