Axe Hall of Fame Dinner & Fundraiser

It's our 13th year, honoring alumni, inspiring current students and athletes, and raising money to support South Eugene High School. We bring back leaders from all walks of life to inspire and support students, clubs, and activities all around the school.
Reception and Silent Auction at 6:00 pm
Entertainment & HoF Induction Dinner at 7:00 pm

Join us for the reception and silent auction only, or purchase reception + dinner tickets. Sponsored tables are available with a portion of the fee tax deductible and directed to the club or team of your choice. You’ll check in when you arrive to get your auction bidding number and table assignment if you purchased dinner tickets.

We Celebrate South to inspire students with the accomplishments of alumni and raise money for needs across the school. We will hear from the Principal, Kee Zublin, and the Student Body President, as well as introduce you to the new Hall of Fame honorees.

Kathy Saltzman Romey ('74)

The Arts: Conducting - Educator

  • World-class choral conductor.

  • University of Minnesota music professor.

  • Prepares the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and others.

Frank Lawson ('79)

Soccer, Basketball

  • Three-time all-Conference goalkeeper in the earliest days of the boys soccer program (1975-78).

  • Three-time all-District and three-time team MVP; all-State selection.

  • Three-year goalie record 26-6-3 (.743).

  • Has served as General Manager of EWEB since 2016.

Karin (Jacobson) Brulliard ('93)

Journalism

  • Washington Post National Correspondent. 

  • Former Deputy Foreign Editor. 

  • Former Bureau Chief in Pakistan, Israel, and South Africa. 

Brian O’Kelley ('95)

Business-Entrepreneurship

  • Chief Technology Officer of Right Media, where he invented the ad
    exchange and other foundational technologies for the $100 billion
    programmatic advertising industry.

  • CEO and co-founder of AppNexus, which he grew to 1000 people before
    selling to AT&T for $1.6B in 2018.

  • CEO and founder of Scope3, a company focused on reducing the
    environmental impact of AI, ad tech, and other energy-intensive
    digital supply chains.

  • With his wife Elizabeth, an active philanthropist focusing on
    impacting the neediest 10 percent of the world’s population, with a
    special focus on the environment, refugees, and education.

Wendy Gabbe Day ('99)

Basketball, Volleyball

  • First-team 4A all-state and OSAA All-Tournament first team in 1999.

  • Helped SEHS to the 1999 girls basketball state championship.

  • Averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds a game as a senior.

  • Scored 1,000 points at UC Irvine.

State Champions

  • Won a school-best 27 games.

  • Finished No. 15 nationally in the final AP high school poll. 

  • Twenty of the 27 wins were by 10 or more points. 

  • All five starters received all-league recognition, and seven girls went on to play Division I sports.

This is a fundraiser event for South Eugene High School. The price of your dinner ticket helps pay for the induction festivities such as the venue and meal only. The fundraiser portion of this event is YOUR DIRECT DONATION during "The Ask" portion of the evening. 100% of the money raised goes directly back into South programs to benefit the students.
